Your privacy
Privacy notice.
Your privacy matters to me. This notice explains, in plain English, what personal information I collect through this website, why, and what your rights are under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Who I am
I'm Stephen Gemmell, a trauma-informed Mindfulness and Resilience Coach based in Ayrshire, Scotland. I'm responsible for your personal information (the "data controller"). You can contact me at info@stephengemmell.com.
I'm registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Registration number: ZB883823.
What I collect, and why
If you sign up for the free workbook
I collect your first name and email address so I can send you the workbook and an occasional email with a practice or idea to try. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
If you book a free call
I collect your name, email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, the time you choose, and your answers to a few short questions: who the call is for, a child's age if relevant, and a little about what's been going on and what you'd like to be different. This helps me prepare for our call. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before we might work together. Because your answers may include information about health or wellbeing, which the law treats as especially sensitive, I only use it with your explicit consent, which you give when you choose to share it. Please only share what you're comfortable with.
If you send me a message
I collect your first name, email address, who the message is about and what you write, so I can reply. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in answering your enquiry, and your explicit consent for anything sensitive you choose to include.
Children and young people
If you're getting in touch about a child or teenager, please do so as their parent or guardian. A parent or guardian joins the free call for anyone under 18.
Who helps me run this website
I use a small number of trusted services to run this website. They only process your information to provide their service to me:
- Kit (kit.com): sends the workbook and my occasional emails.
- Calendly (calendly.com): handles call bookings and your answers to the booking questions.
- Zoom (zoom.us): hosts the free 20-minute video calls. Calls aren't recorded.
- Web3Forms (web3forms.com): delivers messages from the contact form to my email.
- Netlify (netlify.com): hosts this website.
- Google Fonts: provides the fonts on this website, which means your browser connects to Google.
Some of these services are based in, or store information in, the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or approved contract terms.
I never sell your information, and I don't share it with anyone else for their own marketing.
How long I keep it
- Workbook and emails: until you unsubscribe.
- Messages and booking details: up to 12 months if we don't go on to work together, then deleted.
- If we do work together, I'll explain how I keep client records at the start.
Cookies
This website doesn't set its own cookies or use tracking or advertising tools. The Kit sign-up form and the Calendly booking calendar may use cookies needed to work. Calendly will ask your permission for any others.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct it, or delete it
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to my using it
- withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything done before)
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
To use any of these rights, just email info@stephengemmell.com. I'll reply within one month.
Keeping your information safe
I keep your information secure, only use it for the reasons above, and only keep it for as long as I need to.
Concerns or complaints
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first and I'll do my best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
